This Hunger Action Month, St. John’s Bread & Life is doubling down on its commitment to fight food insecurity in New York City, where one in nine households with children often don't have enough to eat. The crisis hits Black and Hispanic communities hardest, with food insecurity rates three times higher than their white counterparts. With one in four children now facing hunger, we're intensifying efforts to provide nutritious meals and advocate for faster SNAP processing, as only 40% of applications are processed on time. Amid rising food costs that outpace income for 85% of New Yorkers, we continue working to ensure everyone has access to healthy food.
